Best Way To Clean Copper Cookware?

by Bob
(Oklahoma)

I recently purchased some older copper cookware at an estate sale.
What should I use to clean them up?

Thanks
Bob

Answer
Hi Bob
One of the easiest ways to clean copper pans is to cut a lemon in half, dip the cut end in salt and rub the areas that need to be cleaned. Another option is to makes a paste of vinegar, salt and flour and use a sponge to rub it in.

There are some copper cleaners such as Twinkle Brass & Copper Cleaner Kit and Bar Keepers Friend that work good.

Abrasive type scrubbers will help get the tough gunk off, but may scratch the surface.

So use sponges, soft clothes and plastic/nylon kitchen scrubbers when cleaning your copper cookware.
