Circulon Tapered Sauteuse

Sauteuse pans like the Circulon Tapered Sauteuse are very common in European households. Basically the design of a sauteuse is that of a round pan with a lid and two small side handles.

It’s a great choice for a small kitchen because you can braise, sauté, fry, simmer – and make whole meals in it. The average size for a Sauteuse is between 3 and 7 quarts.

Positive Features

circulon tapered sauteuse The Circulon Tapered Sauteuse has a four quart capacity. It’s made of heavy-gauge hard-anodized aluminum for even heating (no hot spots). This also makes the pan durable.

Like other Circulon pans, this product features a nonstick interior with a high-low bottom to protect the nonstick surface from utensils.

This particular sauteuse can go from stove top to oven, being safe up to 500 degrees F.

The handles are firmly riveted into place and bear a slip-free grip for save handling. Measuring 10x13x5 inches deep, there’s plenty of room here to make a lot of great recipes.

Considerations

The price on the Circulon Tapered Sauteuse isn’t bad at $90.00, but a smart shopper can find it sometimes on sale for 1/3 of that cost so keep your eyes peeled. The pan isn’t as heavy as some of the other Circulon products, but that’s nice for people who don’t like trying to move hefty cookware.

Consumer Reviews

This is an “everyday” pan that consumers have come to love and trust. It performs successfully time and time again, and continues to look great.

People don’t have any complaints about the nonstick surface, and have mentioned using it for baking too. After combing through a ton of reviews, there was very little even remotely negative about this product. It’s a winner.

Summary

The Circulon Tapered Sauteuse is more lightweight than the Circulon 2, but its also less expensive. It doesn’t have the ridged bottom, but some people prefer a flat cooking surface. The metal handles will get hot so be careful.

Having said that, this pan lives up to the nonstick claims and goes from oven to stove or vise versa without problems. Overall this is a good all purpose piece of cookware at a good price.
