Cuisinart 14 Cup Food Processor

Review of the Cuisinart Brushed Stainless Steel DFP-14BCN 14-Cup Food Processor

The Cuisinart 14 Cup Food Processor will fast become one of your favorite appliances in the kitchen. Spend less time chopping, shredding, slicing, mincing, mixing, emulsifying and kneading; let the food processor do it.

The work bowl holds 14 cups. The feed tube offers two size options, with the largest being big enough to tackle an entire potato. A compact cover is included to protect the unit when not in use.

The stem is detachable so the discs can easily be stored. All removable parts are dishwasher safe. The motorized base easily wipes clean. Included are a custom-contoured spatula, a half hour video and a book of recipes.

Positive Features

The Cuisinart 14 Cup Food Processor has an improved locking feature for the lid and bowl. While some may find it annoying, this safety feature is necessary. The appearance of the Cuisinart is very nice; it looks lovely on the counter.

The size of the bowl can handle large batches of cookies and other big recipes. The video is helpful, especially for people who have never worked with a food processor before. The size of the feed tube is very generous, so you don't need to spend as much time pre-chopping your food.

While the size of the bowl is large, you can also prepare small amounts in it with ease. You can grind spices so your recipes are full of flavor instead of relying on prepared spices. The powerful motor stands up to most tasks with ease.

Considerations

The Cuisinart 14 Cup Food Processor, like any other, has a few issues. The chopping blade is known to develop cracks in the plastic housing that holds the blades together. This may or may not be covered by your warranty, depending on which customer service rep you talk to.

Some people find the locking mechanism to be annoying. The plastic bowls may develop cracks as time goes on. Some customers have found that the motor overheats with sporadic use.

When using liquid, you must limit the amount to three cups or less otherwise the liquid is splashed all over.

The few that have problems end up with some serious ones. Cracking around the chopping blade can be dangerous.
