Deep Frying in Emeril Stock Pot

by chucknbecky
(Rock Hill, SC)

I like to deepfry occasionally, not enough to buy a deep-fat-fryer. I have Emeril's stainless steel cooking set- soup pot, big soup pot, couple of frying pans and couple of sauce-soup pans.
On occasion can you use like the big stock pot to heat maybe 4-5 inches of oil for deep frying?

Answer
Yes you can use a stock pot to fry in. I'm not sure what size of stock pot you have, but you do not want to fill it more than 1/3 of oil.

Pots filled with to much oil can be a fire hazard, as the oil will expand when you add your food. So add small amounts of food to avoid the oil overflowing.

I would also suggest that you get a Maverick CT-03 Digital Oil & Candy Thermomter so you will know the temperature of your oil
