Hamilton Beach 10 Speed Blender 50200

In an effort to eat healthier (mainly in preparation for the Thanksgiving gorging coming up), my fiancé and I recently bought this blender from Hamilton Beach. Primarily we've used it thus far to create smoothies as a healthy snack alternative and a quick breakfast if we're in a rush.
At first, we were worried it might be a little bit underpowered given it's price point(you can pick these up for around $20), but after throwing in a couple of bananas, some yogurt, a handful of strawberries and some ice cubes, we were pleasantly surprised to find that it did a great job of serving up a fine smoothie.
We were a little disappointed that there wasn't a spout to put a glass under for serving, but this is only a minor inconvenience and hey, you get what you pay for I suppose. Another aspect of this particular blender is that because it uses a glass jar as opposed to a hard or composite plastic jar, we haven’t had to worry about a ‘plasticy’ taste being left behind in the beverages we’ve prepared. We had a bad experience with an older blender that suffered for this and it quite literally left a bad taste in our mouths.
As far as durability goes, we haven’t had any major problems with this so far, but we should point out that there have been a few occasions when switching the setting (to/from pulse for example) where the blender seemed to ‘lock’ for a second. This has only happened a few times during use and has usually been alleviated by pushing a different setting and then back to the desired one.
Also of note, is that this blender has a fairly decent capacity of around 40 oz. which is more than enough to make a couple of large milkshakes (or 4-6 small ones if you’ve got sugar-craving little ones running around.)
All in all despite a few nuances, I would highly recommend this blender given the bang for the buck.
