The Presto CoolDaddy Deep Fryer helps you make delicious, crisp fried foods at home. With a basket large enough to cook for six, you can easily fry up chicken, shrimp, fish or fries in minutes.




The adjustable thermometer lets you set the oil temperature just where you need it. An indicator light lets you know when the oil is ready. A small window in the lid lets you peek in and check the cooking process.

The handy basket lets you put your food in or out of the oil without lifting the lid. The fryer is designed to stay cool to the touch while cooking.

The cover locks in place for safety. There is an air filter that helps keep cooking odors contained. All parts of the fryer store easily inside the main body of the appliance.

Positive Features

The Presto CoolDaddy Deep Fryer heats up very quickly. You can put the lid down before you lower the food into the hot oil, eliminating spattering. It is easy to clean and use.

The exterior gets warm, but you can't burn yourself on it. The charcoal filter is a great addition that keeps the odors from permeating the rest of your house.

The basket makes it easy to remove your cooked food. You can let it drain for a few minutes above the oil and then turn the food out onto paper towels. The interior bowl is removable for easy clean up.

Considerations

The Presto CoolDaddy Deep Fryer does not have a built in timer, which would make it even better. There is no on and off switch, either. You have to unplug the unit to turn it off.

Filling the interior to the fill line with cold oil will result in the basket not clearing the oil for draining. The pan holds quite a lot of oil, about 1 1/2 quarts so stock up before using it. The filter cannot contain all the cooking odors... it helps to use the overhead fan above the stove to truly keep odors to a minimum.

An opening near the handle allows hot steam to escape. Be cautious that you don't burn yourself when reaching for the handle. Reheating of the oil may take a little while when you want to add in a second or third batch.

Summary

The Presto CoolDaddy Deep Fryer is fine for a small family. The exterior keeps fingers safe from burns. While it does take a lot of oil to fill it up, it fries well. The fryer does a good job on big things like chicken and small things like fries.

You need to watch out for overfilling. Putting in food with ice crystals can also cause the oil to overboil. This can ruin the lid and make a dangerous mess.

Clean up is easy. The heating element is contained within the appliance so you don't need to worry about cleaning them. There is some question about the accuracy of the thermostat.

You may want to double check the temperature with an independent thermometer to make sure the oil is neither too hot nor too cold.
